CLARITY COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS AND MiPHONE ANNOUNCE PUSH-TO-TALK AGREEMENT
AURORA, Ill. – March 6, 2007 – Clarity Communication Systems, Inc. and MiPhone, a leading wireless-services provider in Jamaica, today announced they have entered into a multi-year agreement for hosted Push-to-Talk (PTT) services.
MiPhone is the first ‘off-mainland’ wireless carrier to offer inTouch Push-to-Talk solution that utilizes Clarity’s hosted model for service deployment. In addition, MiPhone is the first carrier on the island of Jamaica to offer Push-to-Talk.
The ‘MiDirect’ service allows users to communicate through specific push-to-talk -supported mobile handsets without having to accept a call – the audio is broadcast directly through the speakerphone on the other handset. The concept is that of a two-way radio where the speaker is required to push a button while talking and then release it when the conversation is over.
With one-touch connectivity a user can discretely enter a PTT session. The connection is built on proven CDMA-secure standards and the MiDirect conversations are encrypted over MiPhone’s CDMA data network, so crosstalk or listening-in does not occur.
Consumers and businesses find MiDirect an excellent way to keep in touch with family members and groups, as users will be able to view the availability of contacts before they make a call in a manner similar to Instant Messaging.
