Clarity Communication Systems Announces BREW™ Push-to-Talk Client for Kyocera Handsets
Aurora, Il., February 9, 2006 - Clarity Communication Systems Inc., a provider of Push-to-Talk (PTT) solutions, Location-Based Services (LBS), and custom product solutions for the mobile marketplace, announced today that its inTouch PTT service is available for use with the Kyocera KX440 handset.
Kyocera Wireless is the world's first handset manufacturer to support BREW technology. The KX440 is the initial Kyocera handset to support the inTouch client, with other Kyocera handsets expected to follow in the near future.
"We're pleased to offer Clarity's inTouch BREW-based client to our carrier customers as part of our diverse PTT technology portfolio," said Jim Kelly, Executive Vice President/COO, Kyocera Wireless Corp. "At Kyocera Wireless, we work to ensure our handsets are as simple to use as possible with the best technology available. Adding the power of the Clarity inTouch PTT client further confirms our commitment to ease of use, especially in time-critical situations when one-button PTT is most important."
inTouch is a complete PTT system that benefits a wide range of users, from consumers looking for immediate communication with friends and family to enterprises in need of an entirely new realm of efficiency to manage voice communications and time-critical situations such as medical and emergency response. inTouch, the only commercially available PTT solution that includes a downloadable BREW client, utilizes VoIP and SIP technologies to deliver voice services over standard wireless packet data infrastructure. With the downloadable BREW client, users do not need to replace their handsets when adding new features. Based on Kyocera's popular Phantom™ phone design, the Kyocera KX440's walkie-talkie functionality is enabled by simply pressing a dedicated button on the side of the handset. The inTouch offering includes integrated presence management, superior voice quality, excellent RF efficiency and centralized contact management.
"We look forward to working with Kyocera to further the distribution of our PTT service to wireless operators around the world," states Clarity Chief Executive Officer, Jim Fuentes. "With the market for VoIP and SIP-based PTT evolving at a rapid place, we believe this partnership will help meet demand by introducing expanded capabilities to a growing numbers of sophisticated wireless users."
Clarity's inTouch solution is available now as a managed service from VeriSign.
